A time to celebrate!
Newsletter March 2021
Hope you are doing very well and that you are healthy and prosperous. All of us realized in this Corona time that we need to live close to the Anchor of our soul and with an eternal perspective in life. May God’s mercies be with you!!
We thank God for His mercy and wisdom. After
being base leaders for 7 years we had to adjust the course of the base because
of the Corona virus. We walked with Jesus, not totally knowing where we are
going but can now praise Him for His wisdom.
Asked to serve on the YWAM international
refugee circle
A new YWAM base has started in Potch called
Fire and Fragrance. They are from Kona Hawaii and we had the privilege of
having 2 bases in very close vicinity. We had to make room for one another and
really ask the Holy Spirit what the role of each base should be.
In this time I was asked by the international
refugee circle to serve on the team leadership of the refugee circle. This
circle specializes on refugees in the world and it seems to be one of our main
callings. Currently there are about 60 million refugees all over the world.
We are currently organizing a global event for
all ministries involved in refugee matters. My role is to represent Africa on
the circle. I (Wikus) got powerful testimonies on video from African
missionaries who were refugees before (from Operation Refugee Africa), that
will be included in the event. Africa currently has 80% of refugees, it is
therefore important to stay up to date what is happening in volatile countries
in Africa and what is happening with countries politically. We are looking for
God’s answers on the refugee crisis that has caused major shifts in world
politics in the last 10 years or so. If you want to attend the Refugee Circle
Zoom gathering, please contact us.
Shifting to online schools and
teaching at another DTS
We have moved the base to more online schools
in this season and we are currently working on our third online school called BIBLICAL
WORLDVIEW. I am working with a student missions group in town called Ratio
Christi. God has put worldview more
and more on my heart and then I was suddenly invited to speak on the Swazi DTS
(discipleship training school) on worldview. I taught on the subject for nearly
15 hours and it was amazing what the impact was on the students. They had
students from Mali, Cameroon, Mozambique, Swaziland, Brazil and Zimbabwe. It
was interesting to talk with students with a total African worldview. I spoke
on zoom and we are now forced to explore every avenue of technology for
missions. We found that there are many and powerful avenues that have been
created through the technological revival during the Corona times. We currently
have 20 people on the prophetic school and 40 people on the 2 counseling
schools.
Somehow
the base is powering ahead but in different ways than the traditional base
model. For us it is a bit of rest from the incredible busy schedule of DTS in
our house which is non-stop continual work. At this stage it works to give the DTS’s
for the Fire and Fragrance base and for us to focus on second level internet
schools. Soon we will have 3 internet schools with handbooks and well worked
out material for the 3rd school as well. We praise God for His wisdom as we had
to adapt to Corona and a new base in town at the same time. We are glad for the
other base to help with discipleship as discipleship is
sorely needed in the kingdom of God.
Job and Iida’s wedding
For months we have been organizing the wedding
of Job and iida. We thank and praise God that it was a wonderful and memorable
event. They had a lovely day (although it started raining in the middle of the
outdoor church service). Luckily we had a plan B (a tent) we could quickly
transition to and it actually gave a very nice spice to the day.
Iida’s family came especially from Finland and we had a few Ywam friends
and many Christian University friends of Job and Iida on the day. It was the
first time we met Iida’s parents in person and we had a lovely time! What a
privilege to have an open home in Finland any time!
25th wedding anniversary for
us
Today is our 25th wedding anniversary. We had lovely years full of
adventures and fruit for the gospel. We lived on the edge with provision and we
feel very blessed to have 4 kids in the university and one in High school while
mainly living on mission sponsorships. We have seen the Hand of God in many
ways. Now we can serve other couples as we are experienced, having overcome
many things life brought over our path. We can truly thank God for health, amazing
kids and each other!
¨ Please pray with us for Myanmar where SaiMoon and
Charity are from.
¨ Thank the Lord for the wedding arrangements that went
well and also our twins who got their finances sorted out to study this year at
the University!
¨ Please pray for our online Schools, a lot of
discipleship is happening there, we are really thankful for the opportunity to
build up leaders in ministry and the mission field.
¨ Please pray with us for more sponsorships as everyone
is under more financial pressure with the virus.
