New Freedom - Newsletter October 2020
Hi from South-Africa. Hope you are doing very well and see the eternal hope that there is in Christ daily! We are pleased to see what God has done in the past month in our ministry and we hope you had a great month as well! Here are some of the highlights:
Online schools for a time
like this
We have decided to focus on online schools until we know everyone is out of the woods with the pandemic. A volunteer from Germany tried to come to South-Africa but while we were busy with the arrangements the borders closed for Germany. This is a continual problem if we try to go on with the old model of mission. Yet we have 50 students in our 2 online schools and more than 10 staff helping.
Changing the marketplace
through the Prophetic School
The prophetic school being
translated into French
One of our students is from Togo (West
Africa) and is a teacher. When he was doing the school he asked if he can
translate it into French. He is already finished with the second book out of 4
and we also got somebody to help us with the spellcheck and what is needed to
finish the books and to have them ready for courses. We plan to have English
French courses for the second course in 2021.We are also so thankful for
Frankie, one of our Prophetic School students who decided to get baptized. We
could experience a new freedom in him and he is excited to walk by the Spirit
and discover his destiny in Christ. He studies the Prophetic school diligently,
what a wonderful testimony!
Staff from Myanmar
preaching the gospel
Please also pray for Sai Moon our
Myanmar (Burma) staff and his wife Charity, they are such a blessing. Sai Moon
provides food for street people and the hungry who looks for work, once a week.
They also pray for them and share Jesus’s love. Sai Moon also started to preach
online in his Myanmar language, as there is a need for preaching online for his
home country. He said there are many that testify how much his teachings meant
for them, as it comes from his own experience. He said he uses his DTS training
material and it is very new to his countrymen. He is being a real missionary
while his wife is finishing her PHD at the NWU theological school.
Transformation Prayer
school
Dr Ed Smith has a website with
online training available and the need for students is to train in groups after
they worked through all the information. Christien has about 10 students and
they are training on each other and getting sessions. Every session is always
very touching as people get answers for real hurt in their lives. “The Truth
will set you free”.
We are also working on the national
groups of TPM as we are going to lead the national Zoom meeting end of
November. We hope to see the network in SA stimulated and encouraged so that
more people can get trained and sessions. To learn more you are welcome to

Think Tank conference
The Think Tank is an international
YWAM conference. We have this conference coming up in the middle of November
via zoom. I have been involved with this conference for the last three years
and it is the first Think Tank conference we will have online this year. The
focus will be on Africa – so we are very excited to be invited and to
participate.
Outreach to the refugee
camp in Malawi
There are a few university students that are
interested to go to the refugee camp. We are preparing them and hope to see
that they go to the refugee camp in December. Please pray with us as the Corona
virus remains a problem when travelling. They will join the work of the Dzaleka
YWAM base and other missionaries of our Operation Refugee team that is based
near Lilongwe. They will have a great effect if they make it to the refugee
camp. Please pray for the team and any donations or Bibles welcome!
Twins writing matric
We are now entering the final weeks
of our twins writing matric in this extraordinary pandemic year. They finish
the 15 December and they start this week with their final exams. They both
ended in the top 20 academically and hope to do even better in the final exams.
We are very proud of them as they are beautiful teenagers, full of Jesus and
full of Light. We hope to see them finish very successfully that we can put
this harsh year for them behind them although they handled it very well and in
their stride.
Please also pray for Andrea who will
finish her degree in Consumer Studies this year. Pray also for Job & Iida,
she came back from Finland last week and she also had a very difficult academic
year, she and Job are moving towards their wedding. We celebrated Joshua’s 17th
birthday yesterday, very proud of the young man he became – he is very well
trained in TPM and he is a light at the school, the youth and for us all.
