Peace in the storm
Wikus & Christien
Newsletter March 2020
Our Dear Friends from all over the World – we hope you are all safe and
well in this time of a worldwide pandemic. We are safe in our house with our
kids and our friends/staff from Myanmar. We are locked down for at least 21 days. This past week we celebrated our 24th
wedding anniversary – we are so thankful for the Lord for what He has done for
us and through us– we can see His Hands from the first promises He gave us till
today !
WHY THE CORONA
VIRUS?
I have a quite a few people asking me WHY THE CORONA VIRUS ?. According to scriptures I want to highlight
a few scriptures.
- Deut 28:22-23 If you do not
obey the Lord.. “The Lord will strike you with wasting disease and with
fever, inflammation and fiery heat... They will pursue you until you
perish.”
The Corona virus is a textbook curse that has been released against all
nations. In Christ God has redeemed those that believe in Christ from the
curse.
- Gal 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming
a curse for us..”
- When we read Rev 9 we see that a trumpet was blown and angels were
released to bring plagues on the earth.
How do we interpret these things?
Sometimes there are vicious wildfires that rage. Afterwards
NEW LIFE comes and brand new shoots come out and nature restores and
replenishes. In the time of the vicious
wildfires we need to get out of the way, hide and do everything we can to
contain it, knowing that newness will come.
In Christ we have the following hope:
1) Being protected by God’s hand.
2) If we get the virus – we need to fight with the resurrection power of
Christ in our bodies.
3) Eternal life for those that die in Christ.
What is our role?
If you are blessed to be qualified to help medically it is great. If you
can give food to the needy in this time, excellent.
To the majority of Christians I believe this verse is applicable:
Hebr 5:7 “In the days
of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and
supplications, with
loud cries and tears, to him who was able
to save him from
death, and he was heard because of his reverence.”
May we all pray with reverent submission and if need be with
cries and tears.
This is a very difficult time for many, let us compassion shine!
What is happening in Ywam
Potch?
Unfortunately we had to postpone our DTS that was to
start in Ikageng in April as we are in national lockdown in South Africa. Our staff team was send home. Likewise the
Prophetic and TPM courses we are busy
with, are on hold till the government allows everybody to go on with normal activities.
Currently the world is shocked to a halt and we are
confronted with eternity and the forces of death. In this time the gospel are as important as ever.
I am currently busy reading a spiritual book and the
kids are busy with school and university
online. Christien is busy marking and doing
what she can for the university online. We play a lot of
games (PingPong, Chess and Catan) and follow the
instruction of the Lord to look at our “own sheep” in this time. Christien’s parents started to be in isolation since two
weeks ago and we are
buying food for them dropping off food for them as
they are both close to 80 but still very
healthy.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
Let us all join in prayer at this time for Italy, the USA, Spain and
all the countries and families
that need prayer in this time as
well
as the health workers and essential workers who put their lives in
danger
to safe others.
What to do to keep you busy during this LOCK DOWN
TIME ?
>Pray
–
make time to become quiet and rest in the LORD , cast all your problems on Him
– we need to use this time wisely to fill up our oil. Make time to sit with the
LORD. Give all your disappointments or burdens to Him.
>Connect
with loved ones – electronically if needed – really pray for and talk to
some-one.
>Have
GRACE on yourself and do things that you love.
>Read
the Bible
>Make
a garden / plant something
>Bake
or cook
>Listen
to music and rest
>Reconnect
with the LORD
>Do
fun things with the family
