March news from Malawi & Potch

Thank you for prayers and support as we run the good race, we want to keep on living a life of expanding God’s love every day. We want to live in God’s grace ourselves and get energy from Jesus!
Malawi refugee camp
Wikus went to Malawi (via Kenia!) early Monday morning. The flight was cheaper over Kenia. He joined our DTS team for a Pastoral visit and he will work with them in a Refugee camp in Malawi. One of our DTS students was a refugee in that camp for many years before he came to South Africa. Please pray for their work there this week.
Our DTS team of 5 were in Blantyre at the YWAM base there, supporting them in distributing Bibles in the area- there is a nice Video with their testimonies - see on our facebook YWAM Potchefstroom or Click on this LINK
They also went to a Muslim – area that is a very rural place, there they had to bicycle for up to 2 hours to visit and share their testimonies and pray for healing.
After the refugee camp the team will go to Zambia and then return to South Africa by bus.
Visitor from Norway
Last week we had a visitor from Norway, which just finished her DTS in Durban, she is a friend of Mark and Sarah (our new staff from Australia). The beautiful testimony she gave us after the visit is – this was “a week of visiting spiritual family”. The high point of the visit was when we went to a church in Ikageng, Samual is the pastor, he was in our first Ikageng ministry/group we had +-10 years ago. It’s such a blessing to see the fruit of your labour and how God is using Samual now. He also finished his studies and is working, and has his own family.

YWAM Potch departments
Since YWAM Potch is now growing we feel it is wise to create different departments. Each department will meet separately and focus on the aim of that department. They will pray together and hear from God about their specific goals. We will also have one bigger general meeting for staff each week. This will streamline our arrangements! We are excited about this, please pray with us for our staffs as volunteers who want to know God and make Him known.
Two Prayer counselling courses
Please tell friends in Potch region about the next 2 courses that will be for 16 weeks – one evening a week. We do the international TPM Prayer counselling course and we are excited that we will probably be two groups. The one meets Tuesday evenings from 18:30 at our house. We already have more than 8 students. The second course will start beginning of May with mostly university students. Please also pray for these students as Jesus cleanse and heal them deeply with the theory and prayer sessions. More details at ywampotch.com
Christien’s father turned 77 this week and we had a very nice family dinner with her family. So the kids have holiday still this week and it gives time for Christien to work on marking that she need to do for the university. Kids sleep late, read books, play games and do art!
20 years today!
We are married for 20 years today. What an adventure and never a dull moment! We thank God for His help and support as well as friends and family who stood by us in good and difficult times. Since we were married we decided to follow God step by step. This was a good decision but it’s not always easy and acceptable to swim up-stream. We are thankful that we are living our dream of sharing the gospel in Africa and Potch area.
