September 2014
Hi, to all our friends from a sunny Potch. As I am
sitting here Aardklop the national arts festival in Potch is in full swing as
there is thousands of people coming to the city. We are priviliged to serve in
a mission where all the forms of mission are appreciated. One of Christien’s
friends had a art exhibition where the theme was light. This is truly great to know that there are people that give
light and hope to the arts where many artists are obsessed with the dark side
of life and the arts.
We are
privileged to be in the good position to champion young people that can truly
be light to the world.
Preparing
for DTS: Staff training
Our schedule is heating up in the near future as we
have quite a few things happening in the near future. We thank God for all the
staff that he has sent our way and we are priviliged to have 6 nations already
represented in our staff for this DTS. It is South-Korea, America, Russia,
South-Africa, Angola and Brazil. We have been greatly blessed in our build up
to our first DTS and we have learnt a lot working together with different
cultures.
11-15 October we have staff training from
Holger of Germany. We are looking forward to this special time we can bond more
as staff and to be equiped to be a ministry team as we will go into this
intense time of discipleshipof students in the DTS. It is beautiful to see how
young people of all nations are blossoming and comes free in the presence of
God and to see how they mature. Please pray for this time as the team really
determines the atmosphere in the base.
Hosting
the national leadership meeting
We are privileged to host the national YWAM base
leaders meeting in Potch at Immanuel venue. We receive the base leaders of
Southern-Africa as we come together to really hear from God what is on His
heart. We need to do a lot of preparation for this 4 days as we will host about
40-50 people. It will be a good time for our staff to operate as a team
As Ywam is a growing organism there are always new
people being welcomed to the leadership-meeting. We pray that new bases will
see the light.
If you can contribute to this meeting please send
us some baking goods like muffins / rusks / cookies or groceries.
Hosting
a team from Worcester
We are receiving an outreach team of 5 from
Worcester DTS for 3 weeks. This greatly blessess the area as this team does
full-time evangelism and this really will stirr God’s kingdom. Pray that many
people will come into God’s kingdom in this time and that new destinies will be
birhted.
With the attack on the mall in Kenia I have just
realized how utterly dark and wicked people can become without the light of the
gospel. Religious fanaticism can be really evil but knowing Jesus sets people
really free. Pray for this team that works in the area as Ikageng has
500 000 people and the university students is 26 000 there is more
than enough work.
Looking
for a property for DTS
We have a beautiful property in the eye at this
stage for the base. It will be a great step forward if we can find a really
good property where we can host the DTS and schools. The property cost
R11 500 a month and we need to find the deposit as well. This is quite a
challenge for us at this stage as we do not run any school yet and must find
this money out of sponsorships. We hope this property will be the one..
Pray with us for a good property close to the
University where we can have 20 to 30 people continually and which we can
afford all through the year. We also need furniture etc for the new house!

Facepainting
Andrea joined 3 students to do face paining at Dorah’s preschool. This
simple thing really lightened the little one’s hearts up. You can see they are
from very poor backgrounds, but the special facepaint and individual attention,
really blessed the kids…and the girls!
Familywise
We are looking to possible move back to our own home
in November with our 5kids after two years. We will be very blessed if we can move back
into our family home as the other home for the DTS is launched. At this stage
we already have staff that volunteered to stay in the DTS house and it looks as
if the Ywam house will be pretty full in the next season.
The kids are doing very well. They find great joy
in having real answers for their friends and being able to help their friends
with emotional problems as they overcome their own teenage emotions.
We have a lot of fun this short holiday playing
board games, computer games and walking at the sportsfield.
Job worked at Aardklop at the Hartklop tent – ministering to people. He really enjoyed having
conversations with people there and to pray for them.
Moneywise
I have been under extreme pressure as it is no fun
and games to have 5 kids and only live on sponsorships. My faith have been
really tested and tried. God has been faithful and we have been very humble in
the way we live and had to ask schools for discount. We also had to borrow cars
if we went out of town to not incur more costs on the Combi. Ywam is not yet
well known here and we are truly breaking new ground for interculture mission.
As we looked for housing, a few eyebrows were raised. But we continue to trust
God and strain forwards as young people desperately are in need of foundations
to be restored, individual attention and to be championed.
