September 2012
Hi everybody
There are many
people in Potch we would love to see again and we are looking forward to meet
up with all of them again. But here we made many new acquaintances and friends
and we are continuing to meet new people from all over the world. What a
blessing! For me it was three very busy months.I were busy with the leadership
school (SOAP), Christien prepared for the TAC school and also started to staff
the Compassion DTS. Kids received blessed school rapports!
School of Apostolic pioneering highlights
It was a great privilege to hear the speakers on
this school. Our leaders were from Las-Vegas and they brought in guys from all
over the show. We had Tim Svoboda that started Ywam India. It was his first
time in Africa and we were privileged to hear his whole strategy God gave him
to take cities for the kingdom of God
Then we had Brian Hogan that went into Mongolia
when they opened up after the communist regime ended. They then planted a home church movement that
today produces the most missionaries per Christian in the world. He went with us
through all the idols of the church today. I saw all the mistakes I was making
in the past and new light were dawning. We had great speakers week after week
and God was walking a journey with me through the whole school as he impressed
various things on my heart. The standard was very high. It was amazing to see
how far the group came from the start and how well they groomed the future
leaders of Africa and Madagascar.
Between that I saw quite a few miracles on our
outreaches. God was really at work. I got a real first hand experience of the
community’s problems and can now train the counseling school with a good
strategy to impact the community the most effective.
Ø
I presented a 20 page outline of what we are
going to do in Potch and the surrounding campuses and a powerpoint of the heart
behind the strategy. Those interested can ask that we mail it to them.
Training a counseling school – TAC
Today I
started with a new month–long counseling seminar to train counselors. It is a
very effective school and people are helped to facilitate a life changing
encounter with God. We have 22 students that are very excited and from various
walks of life. We have about 10 nations in the group and it is the first TPM
seminar registered as a seminar in Ywam .We thank God for helping us to invite
people when both of us were very busy; it didn’t look possible but God realy
send us wonderful eager to learn people.
Ø
Please pray for and with us that these guys can
be trained and stand to change the community.
Compassion DTS
In order to be able to host a DTS next year,
Christien have to staff a DTS. The Compassion DGTS is a wonderful place to
learn all about DTS! But it is not so easy to be mom and housekeeper and also
staff a DTS (while Wikus is busy to present the TAC)
Ø
Please pray with Christien for this DTS. It is a
real pleasure to work with this group from Canada, USA, Denmark, Germany,Finland,
Brazil, Scotland, South Korea and SA!
We reached out to a group of boys who are in a
special program. They were gangsters, used drugs and did crime. We had a great
time helping them to forgive and receive forgiveness.
How’s the kids and family doing?
We don’t want to put too much pressure on the
family. We are both very busy now as Christien is staffing the DTS as well. The
kids enjoy all the kids at the base and the 2 Potch students that came to help
with the counseling school. They are a true blessing.
We got our US visas!
When I met earlier this year with Stefaan he put me
in contact with the Ywam university organizer in the US. We are going to the US
for three weeks for some very important connections. We will go also to URBANA
– university missions conference and represent YWA Africa missions. My ever
resourceful wife got blessed with a ticket flowing from her ministry. We never
planned or expected it and I now have the visa and the invitation and no money
to go. But like everything in Ywam it is faith, faith, faith!
Challenges and prayer requests
We praise God for a breakthrough with the Combi. We
are waiting for the windscreen that we ordered while we fixed the cooling
system that seemed to be the problem. It seems that we are nearing the end of
that hurdle. We still need about R18000 for the childrens’schools and the
schools are starting to start asking questions. Before we can do anything else
we need to finish paying the schools. We are thankful that we could pay the
schools bill this month, but we are still a way to go!
Then we need a ticket for Christien from Washington
to St. Louis in US. I need a ticket to Washington and St. Louis and we both
need money for Urbana and our stay there. It is not my favorite experience to
land in the snow and to sit in the air for 17 hours. After 37 years I know I’m not a bird. But it seems God wants us
there and I can see that the connections can be very important for Potch and
the birth of the University ministry. This wil be the first University base in
South-Africa. As. We probably need to pay our ticket this month as it is
getting more expensive now especially the one to Washington, we plan to fly on
Christmas as it is cheaper then
Thank you so much for all the people that shared in
our journey financially. The souls that are saved and set free are directly
connected to their help and would not have been saved if it was not for their
obedience. I am totally convinced this is the right way to go for South-Africa.
God is with us in a serious way to mine the human potential of every nation in
this country. We are totally dependant on God and support from friends as this
is the way God lead Ywam from the start.
