 Newsletter June 2025

Hi, from Potch. Hope you are doing very well and you are very blessed. God is doing amazing things and it is a privilege to walk close to what God is doing and to see what He is doing. While the enemy is boastful and prideful and everything has to be taken to the mass media God has a different character. What I have seen from the character of God is that He chooses to do things without needing the limelight. I guess it is because He is secure and knows He is God and what He does will be fulfilled. While a lot of people are scared about current things in the world, God is also doing amazing things.

Our trip to Finland

Our trip to Finland was first of all for family but second also for ministry purposes. It was amazing to see our first grandkid again. She is now two years old and the last time we saw her she was about 1 year. So it was the first time she was really going to get to know us. We got to spend regular time with her and also met our other new grandkid named Dominik.

We spent time on the farm and there we met a soldier from Norway and a soldier of Turkey that was Islam that was working on the farm of our daughter in law’s mother. We also spent time with a person from Ywam whose parents were part of a building project in Ukraine. We could get the lay of the land and could ask many questions about the area while enjoying the farm and our son and daughter with their new family. It was a joy to spend time with our family in law as well who spoiled us so much..

The second half of the trip we spent in Helsinki with Nicolas and his wife Nita that we met at Ywam Potch in SA. We also had a meeting with the Ywam Helsinki leader. We could do some research on The Send that was going on in Finland. It was the biggest Christian event in 70 years in Finland. We could hear how Ywam was involved and how it was organised.

We met with various couples and built a wider relationship with existing contacts and then also attended the last session of the Global Pentecostal conference. We got a taste of what The Send are doing and Ywam’s involvement. Christien volunteered to help with breakfast prep for the YWAMers who attended The Send.

It was very impressive to see what Francis Chan and Andy Bird were up to and it was good to see as we also have a branch of Ywam that are closely connected to them in our town. I became quite sick this time and couldn’t attend all that we wanted to attend. But it was a very good time where I ministered in a church to the youth and could connect some relationships to frontline missions in Ywam. We also did some TPM sessions with new and old contacts. We were spoiled by our friends Nicolas and Nita (and the little girl) and also Elise and Heikie who invited us for a braai. We enjoyed visiting our friends from Potch Albie and Tracy with Diina and Job.

Our aim was to spend time with ur kids and grandkids and to also put our spare times into ministry and that mix was a great success although I struggled heavily with the flu for the last 2 weeks. That was a bit tough. But we praise God for what He is doing in Finland and are very thankful that we could see and experience what God is doing through Ywam in those countries.

Prophetic school practice

Marie and Haritiana were doing a very good job on the practice of the prophetic school students and I attended the session where the students had to give live words to friends and family. There were about 50 people on the zoom and I was very impressed with the words I got from the students. We were also able to wrap up the practicals with the students for the Tpm course. We made a lot of new contacts through both of these schools and could impart skills in working with the Holy Spirit that would be life-changing for the students.

Working with the work creation centre (Work4aLiving)

I am working with Touching Africa and we have pioneered the work for a living centre. We are pleased with the growth of this centre and we hope to see more students in July that will give hope, skills and a worldview that people can get a fishing rod to fish for their own day to day needs.

Planning for the next season

We are planning three schools for the second semester. It would be the Prophetic school, the TPM school and an possibly an Arts (Prayer Journaling) seminar. The rest of the time we do live (TPM) sessions with people, have mentoring sessions and discipling people in their calling.

I will also devote my time to studying various topics. As I work with the humanities department of the UofN where we work with highly skilled professionals I continue with research into different matters of the season. We are continuing with joy seeing great fruit in our labour and we thank and praise God for the opportunity to daily obey Him.

 Prayer topics:

1)       We are trusting God for 3000$ to do a training in Eswatini next February.

2)       For good student numbers in our 3 online schools.

3)       Walking with the right people in mentoring relationships & for God’s leading in that.

4)       Very fruitful second semester for God’s kingdom.

5)       Prayer for our children and grandchildren – for wisdom, protection and the leading of the Holy Spirit!
