SOAP school students…
Hi,
from Worcester.
We wake up with snow on the
mountains every day. Praise God for the beauty of nature! We are very busy in this
adventurous year. Sometimes when I look back I cannot believe the risk we took,
but it is still a tremendously blessed season for us. Every day God’s will for
Potchefstroom and other universities is unfolding before us. What a wonderful
time of meeting with Jesus!
Soap
school
Wikus are presently very busy
with the soap school. It is a leadership school of YWAM and we are getting some
of the best speakers. Marty Meyer who is one of the founders of the school
spoke the 1st week, he is from the Idaho base in the United States.
They pioneered this leadership school and are planting the school in the 3 rd
continent. USA, India and now in Africa. They also pioneer the Small
discovery group move around a YWAM base. Literally tens of thousands of
teenagers have come into a deeper relationship with Christ through their
Mission Adventure program .
They are at work in the 10/40
window in the North of India where there is only 5% of Christians. They are wonderful contacts for the coming
base in Potchefstroom. I already asked him if he would speak at our DTS next
year. We will be able to join them with effective outreaches in India where
people have never heard the name of Jesus. We saw videos where people are in
India doing evangelism.
Small
group move
They encourage us to be
“born-pregnant” as a base; Thus having a vision for a new base when you start.
We already have somebody from Brazil that wants to start a base/ministry in
Botswana that wants to get ready at the Potch base. We also have Pretoria
University in our heart. Please pray for us for this move of global mission on
the universities.
What I love from my stay at YWAM
this year is that everybody is trained to just listen to the voice of God. Room
is created that everybody can listen to the Holy Spirit themselves. All the
structures are there to serve people to listen to the Holy Spirit and also to
live their dream and passion.
Every Friday we are reaching out
into the community. We had people from Floyd Mclung’s movement that came and
explained how to rapidly plant small groups in an area. I have already started
4 to listen to God how to plant groups and I am now free to not be a discovery-group leader but a discovery - group planter.
How’s
the family doing?
We had a wonderful visit from
Christien’s parents for 10 days. We visited Montegu (the place of Christien’s
outreach) and climbed the mountains and visited a few friends she made in that
community. Our family is doing very well although they were a little bit grumpy
to start with school again. Joshua is playing rugby at school and at the base
with Jonathan and some Brazilian friends. They comes back with bruises looking
more proud as they seem to be scoring more and more tries.
My father is doing very well
after the open heart surgery he had. I spend 4 days with him at the hospital in
Krugersdorp.
Andrea loves her dance classes
and Job is playing hockey this Saturday in Paarl. Elandri have a lot of little
girlfriends and she love to play each day with them at the base (in the
trees).
A girl in Job’s class had
Meningitis and we are so thankful that her mom took her to the doctor in time,
she is well and Job had to take precaution medicine.
What is
Christien up to?
Christien is busy with the
housing of the base. As many international people are coming and going she is
the mother that must see that
everybody sleeps somewhere. She is doing a brilliant job and is in her element.
She is busy with the TPM seminar that we are preparing. It will be the 1st TPM seminar in YWAM. We seem to be having a lot
of interest and it is a great privilege to equip those who will be going out to
train others. She is also starting to set up a website for YWAM Potch and registering
the TPM course as a University of the Nations (YWAM) seminar on the UofN system.
International
contacts
It is just brimming with
international contacts here. Our school leader is from Las Vegas. We have made
contact with people from three other areas in the USA. This December we hope to
visit Wisconsin to see the University base there, if it is God’s will. We have
met people from Brazil, Angola, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Australia, Cameroon,
England, Tanzania, Alaska, Canada etc. We praise God for this amazing international
community of humble people with servant hearts!
Struggles
We thank God that we could catch
up with the primary school fees last month. I could also pay a good deposit for
the SOAP school. Yet we are a few months behind on the secondary school. The car is still not ready to be registered
and is currently not roadworthy, it makes life a little bit uncomfortable.
Please pray with us.
Prayer topics:
1)
Praise the Lord with us for health, joy and many
wonderful victories inward, and lots of new contacts and amazing training we receive!
2)
We as a family need grace to keep up with a busy
SOAP schedule. (Classes in the morning, afternoon and evenings)
3)
Wisdom for Christien with all the new technology
challenges and housing issues.
4)
To keep our focus on the Spirit with all the
practical things that requires our attention.
5)
Admin and planning of the TPM seminar in October
and enough people to attend it.
6)
For our children as the children in school do
not share the same values as us. They want to help their friends, but need a
lot of wisdom and God’s help!
7)
For our friend who was diagnosed with cancer…we
really wait for a miracle!
8)
For the Potch base and Gods perfect will with
all the planning and arrangements (eg. A house for ministry near the
University)

John 7:38 "He who

living water."
Gal3:5b “does God give you his Spirit and work
miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you
heard?”
Gal 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
