News December - DTS

Hi, from Potch. May God bless you wherever you are! We want to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!
We want to thank all those who have partnered with us in prayer and financially. To all those that have given food to the orphanage or those that have referred people we want to say thank you very much! Personally we cannot stay in ministry if people don’t partner with us financially as we live only on sponsorships and we cannot help the orphanage, refugees or anybody in the counselling ministry if you are not involved in some way. We also thank God as He always provides comfort, advice and an Everlasting source of peace, joy and life. To have a relationship with God and the Holy Spirit is one of the greatest privileges there is.
Running DTS in the vacation time
As the year wind down and everybody is going on holidays we are busy with DTS. We have a very nice group with strong leaders and we know that they are being raised up to be good missionaries and workers in the community. Jesus said: “Pray for the workers as the harvest is great”. Many things happened in the first part of the lecture phase that was a great blessing already. We are quite full in the house in a typical Ywam way but it provides great opportunities for discipleship.
Outreaches to the orphanage
We have gone to the orphanage on a regular basis and we are looking to put in some systems that will make it more comfortable for the kids. We are overseeing food as of first importance. For now we have a regular supply of food and we could move on to give some short teachings on hygiene and safety. Early in January we plan to go and see the local municipality to see if we can get some ground to build a new orphanage. We are only in the time where we are doing research.

Advocacy and outreach to the refugees
The second part of the DTS is very much geared towards the outreaches. We are going to Botswana, Zambia and Malawi in a trail blazing outreach for the refugees. Also an outreach is going to the University of technology. 3 Refugees have now finished DTS and we are looking to sponsor more refugees for DTS. DTS has the desired effect of freeing the refugees of a victim mentality and a mindset of being forsaken. Yet as we have walked with our refugee friends we can feel the stigma that is coming with being a refugee. Many people regard refugees as criminals, being lazy or being terrorists. This might be true for a very few, although a survival attitude can bring all kind of ways to survive. Yet as our 3 friends finished with DTS we realise they can really not go home because of the dangerous circumstances. We therefore are walking with them to totally create a new life. At his stage Steven has become a Malawi citizen and he is working with us in the refugee project where he is a great blessing.
·         Please pray for Steven and these Refugees.
 How is the family doing?
