Knowing God in this season - Newsletter

Praise God for His Kingdom on earth which is the hope of mankind! In South-Africa we now have the 5th highest Corona count in the world. It has been rapidly expanding in the winter. Hopefully we just passed our peak last week. We are waiting to see if it will come down. We are still in level 3 lockdown now for more than 4 months. Many businesses are really struggling as we face the pandemic.

Message about the Corona virus

One of the messages to the YWAM Global South the speaker was talking about Jer 9:23: “This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast about their wisdom or the strong boast about their strength or the rich boast about their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me,”

This is very much in line with what we received about the Corona virus. It is a time of fire where our foundations are tested. All of us are praying for relief. Personally I believe the relief will come about the end of October.

Doing missions in this time -

The first 2 weeks of the lockdown was really difficult for me to know what to do as we were very stuck in our homes. Then like everybody we tried something on the internet. It became a journey for me to develop the prophetic school online. It has developed into a serious course and three books I have written are now part of the course. This gives me a lot of fulfillment as all the teachings are now not in vain but can now be homework of students that seem to enjoy the course very much and really learning new revelations from scripture. We are currently busy with a course and it takes two months for a group and anybody can do it. It looks like a long term winner for our base and we already can see very good fruit from it.

Family

As a couple and family we are going through a transition as the twins are busy with matric and next year 4 out of the 5 kids our out of the house! Daily we are waiting on the Lord to open up our new season. But in all this adventure we have a firm anchor in the voice of the Holy Spirit!

The twins are currently in their final school year and very busy -they both applied to study at our local University next year and we are very thankful that Jonathan already passed his qualification test to study Computer Engineering. Elandri is still waiting for her evaluation to study Music. She got a special Masters class on her violin from a professor from the University – she enjoyed it and was very blessed!

Job and Iida got engaged just before she returned back home to Finland where she will finish her 2nd year of University study online– please pray for them in these times Andrea got a job to baby sit every day and she will resume her final University year soon. She is very creative and making pillows and baking for her fundraising.

Doing a YWAM school with Jim Stier – Living Word Seminar

Jim Stier is part of the founders circle and pioneered Brazil. Wikus did a two week Living Word school with him and 60 others focusing on Galatians. It was really like gathering golden nuggets and after the 2 weeks there was a lot of golden nuggets and my pockets were full of important revelation. It is a great privilege to have these riches spiritually in our midst (and it is available to all cheaply through the internet now).

It was really a journey of refinement and gave me and my wife new deeper insight into the ways of God. If I can describe Ywam it is a network of people that dared to follow their callings through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

A few important realizations were:

·        Paul heard God’s call but nobody around him.

·        Paul didn’t try to please men but were called by God to please God.

·        We all have grace for our calling and purpose and we should carefully discern what is our calling and the grace we are called into.

Our refugee friends building a base

From Potch we helped Tresor and Falone to get out of the refugee camp. They did DTS in Blantyre and are now building a base opposite the refugee camp- they first developed the land for farming and now they are busy with a building project – please pray for them and support where you can! We couldn’t have hoped for better fruit than seeing an Ywam base opposite the refugee camp by refugee leaders themselves. The passion, commitment and faith of this couple are amazing. They received brilliant training at Blantyre and God is really building on the vision He gave to release refugees into missions.

We want to continue to support them in every way. Here is a few photos – see also videos on our Operation Refugee Facebook page.
