A season to equip !!

Hi to all from a very sunny Potch. We are training to be thankful to God and to see all His workings around us. It is not difficult to see it as we have been and are still in a very busy time. Here are few snippets of the amazing grace God has given us in the last month.

Busy with DTS!
We have 11 great students and it must be one of the most powerful groups we have had this far. We have students from DRC, Tanzania, Botswana, Finland, England and South-Africa. What a marvellous privilege to be six nations in one house. We are speaking royal English while eating “pap” at the same time. It is the first time we have 2 families as well as it is our 5th DTS.
We have been growing in a focus on the refugee crisis in Central Africa as God has given this to us as a clear focus. We are privileged that the whole family of one of the Operation Refugee directors is doing DTS. At the same time we have somebody that is ministering to refugees in Botswana and 2 previous refugees from the Kigoma camp in our midst. We see God’s heart to those that have been victims of war and our understanding is also growing of what is happening in the central African states at a spiritual level. We are privileged to train leaders that can have an impact in the townships in South-Africa and also in Botswana, Zambia and Malawi.

DNA infusion
Christien, Wikus and Andrea went to the DNA infusion in Muizenberg Cape Town and it was our privilege to listen to Darlene and Loren Cunningham and Dave Hamilton. They are the founders and the leaders of YWAM international. We could listen to the latest testimonies of what is happening worldwide and also what the secret of success was through the years in YWAM and the painful lessons learnt.
Darlene Cunningham gave a very simple secret: “listen, obey and persevere”. Living by faith and carrying the lamp of the mission gospel for all nations is not always easy as you are confronted with a lot of strong paradigms but we found this very simple secret also working for us although we really need to persevere. It was very nice to have our daughter there and she is so full of wisdom. It was our first time to hear the founders of YWAM for a prolonged time as we briefly heard them live in 2010. It is very intimidating to know that Loren Cunningham travelled all the countries in the world and planted a world-wide university. Yet we can only walk in our own calling and know that we are serving the same incredible God.

Coming back from the Think Tank at the United Nations
Wikus and Johannes were privileged to go to the Think Tank of the Humanities department of YWAM at the United Nations in Switzerland. There we met the leading ministers in the political realm in YWAM. It was a great privilege to listen to their testimonies and the way God has lead them. We also went into the United Nations and sat in a group discussion around some of the Middle East crisis.
Coming back we have a lot to think and pray about the move of God in governmental levels. We are very dependent on God in this regard and only God can open doors in these levels of society. But we have learnt a lot and are continuing to learn.

Living by faith. A constant humbling factor
Even though we have seen great glory we are constantly dependant on God for provision. We thank all those that have supported in this time. We are deeply thankful for your obedience to God. Yet our constant monthly support is far below what is needed monthly for our family of seven. My stomach regularly is at a knot in this regard but I continue to take the decision of faith and somehow it works out although we also have to say no for many things. Please pray for monthly support in this regard for our family as we will endure in any case but the pain is a lot more without friends that support on a regular basis. It is very humbling to live on support and most are not willing to do it. Yet in YWAM we are clearly called by God to do it and 27000 missionaries live in this way globally and are then able to give attention to the gospel full time obeying the voice of Jesus. The strength of living in this way is that you can truly follow your calling and you are not dependant to serve a doctrine of a church against your conscience or obliged to serve a religious system.
Prayer topics:
1)      Please pray for the DTS students, who are in the second week. We still have 9 weeks of lecture phase and 10 weeks of outreach.
2)      Andrea is preparing to go to University. Please pray for funding around that. Job is also raising his funds for second year of University.
3)      2 of our children will be out of the house in2018 and we have Jonatan, Elandri and Josua in the house. It is a period of transition.
4)      Please pray for our personal monthly support to grow.
5)      We feel the TPM Train the Trainers Camp / conference that we hosted was very successful and we are so thankful that the Lord blessed it, the DTS did the catering with Andrea as leader!! The theme of the camp was – Multiplying TPM trainers in South Africa  for every town and township. Please keep on praying for our role as TPM SA administratively and on the leadership.
6)      Operation refugee could now help 6 new refugees and displaced people to do DTS. We are thankful to God for His mercy. Please help refugees do DTS at operation refugee.com
This is a 100% YWAM Potch endeavour.
