Mozambique outreach - June Newsletter

Hi, from Potch. We are in the middle of winter but very excited about what God is doing! We hope all are doing very well. Hope you are interested in God’s newspaper.

Two Pillars of Christianity
(Rom 5:8)  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
One of the greatest mysteries of Christianity is how can we be completely saved by grace. Even while we did the worst sin in our life Christ died for us there. It means we are always in a state of forgiveness and we are always forgiven. When the message of grace hits home the normal question is that if you preach THAT, people will sin. Therefore we need to understand the second pillar.  (Gal 6:7)  Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.(Gal 6:8)  For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. If we understand this verse deeply it means that every sin will have a destructive consequence. We have been saved by grace now we can sow. It is impossible to miss the harvest: what you sowed you will reap. This principle is impossible to sidestep.

Outreach to Mozambique

This was a frontline outreach and I wanted to go myself to train a little bit spiritually. Well it was precisely the right outreach! I have never been in Mozambique and was immediately confronted with Portuguese. As we drove up it was a beautiful road up to Maputo and we headed up to the North where it was a little bit more volatile. A peace accord has been written last December but war broke out again in March for a month. Now there was peace again for two months. We pushed through to the North and had to drive about 200 km on a road that was a hot zone two months ago. Everything was peaceful and we got to our destination close to Chimoio.
We were a brilliant team. On our team were 2 nuclear engineers, a policeman from Baltimore, a Mexican-American house church leader, a Theological lecturer that is a pastor now for 23 years, an African evangelist that criss-crossed Africa for 23 years and a few others that included me. We were ten in an 8-seater small bus and we drove and drove and drove. The roads in Mozambique are pretty slow and you average between 50 and 60km/h an hour because there are no highways.
We came to a base that had a school for ladies, a school for boys, an orphanage and a  hospital. The leaders of the ministry also had an amazing testimony where they were abducted by soldiers for 3 months, where they walked 600 kilometres till where they were released in Zambia. We got to know the volatile history of Mozambique especially in the North. The team showed the Jesus film every evening and saw demons going out and a lot of people coming to Jesus. We had a really great time as a team and God did a lot among the team. The highlight for me was when we baptised 40 girls. The purity and the beauty of the Mozambique people are amazing. We got word from the Holy Spirit that the war in Mozambique is over and we hope and pray that it will be a stable country from now on.

 Our next season

It is now the coldest time of the year and the kids are on vacation. Because we run a DTS in November till April it is now crucial that we take it slow because we also start with three courses again in August (TPM counselling courses and a Prophetic school – see more info on our website ). We are therefore closing the base till the 21 July. We praise God for a great season the first 6 months and all the breakthroughs we got. We are looking forward to the next season.
·        Please pray for us as family and also our full-time staff who are really growing spiritually!

Andrea in Madagascar
When Wikus got back from Mozambique Andrea left for Madagascar. She got all her money with a lot of fundraising and we are really proud of her faith. It is always quite difficult getting the finances most of the time and the way she just hang in there against all the odds and are now in Madagascar is amazing. We are proud that we can be a family in missions. She is visiting a Malagasy couple that met in Ywam Potch and also married in Ywam Potch. We can now visit this permanent ministry in Madagascar birthed out of our base. Please pray for her as Madagascar is not the easiest place to do outreach as the roads and the infrastructure is quite a challenge.   Please pray for her and the young team from Kruispunt church.

Please pray for our  upcoming courses and our ministries:
  • ·       TPM course in Potch
  • ·       and Fochville
  • ·       NEW Prophetic school
  • ·       Campus ministry & Bible study
  • ·       Orphan ministry in Ikageng
  • ·       Operation Refugee Africa
