Job Vorster's NEWS from the CAPE

Greetings from Muizenberg. The July Living Loved DTS is going excellent. We are into our 6th week of lectures. In the last month many things have happened. My paradigms about God
has been broken constantly. Which is excellent!

Students and Staff
Getting to know the students has been a very fun experience. This last month of living together, eating together and worshiping together has started feeling familiar. I really admire my fellow students. They all bring a unique creation of God to the school. We are getting along excellently. It is almost surprising that we have had no major quarrels. I am very thankful for that.

The Staff are really doing an excellent job. David and Carol, the school leaders, are examples of living a life aware of the love of Christ. Sharon is a loving motherly figure who is a real example of being a servant leader. Sonia is a dancer from Fiji/Australia who has been a missionary for 7 years now. She is teaching us about performing arts for the purposes of performing on the Namibia outreach. Zuko was a student in the previous DTS who is now staffing this DTS. He is a servant in his local church. He lives on base with us and is a good friend.
God really blessed us with excellent students and staff. People eagerly seeking God’s heart.

Lectures
The lectures are top quality. Each lecture session is of extreme worth. The past month have been edifying and educational. It is an honour to be taught by these experienced individuals. The lectures are much more than just head knowledge. They really challenge us to the core of our being and relationship with Jesus. Some of the topics deal about things I have never heard before.

Here is a short description of the weeks so far :
• Week 3 : Reconciliation (Wilson Goeda)
The week was about forgiveness and reconciliation. Wilson was the regional leader of YWAM South Africa for a time. He shared his story of the (horrible)injustices he experienced in apartheid because of his race. His story about how God led him to forgive white people and to love everyone was miraculous.
• Week 4: Life as a Worship Experience (Tanya Stanfield)
This was a very interesting week. It was about experiencing and worshiping God in the everyday experiences. She taught us methods that help us focus on God on different experiences. She also taught us that prayer is much more than singing and praying. We worship God in every single act we do.
• Week 5: Nature and Character of God (James Lunn)
The theme is self explanatory. We explored the trinity. James showed us in scripture how Jesus was 100% human. We acknowledge his divinity. But some of us think Jesus was different to us.
He lived a very human life. Jesus was in constant connected to the father. James also showed us that we can also be connected to God as Jesus did because of the cross (John 14-17)
Week 6 is about the Father Heart of God (David Froneman) is still in progress. We are learning how much God cares about us as a Father.

Outreach
September 10/11’th we are leaving to Namibia. Everything is going well with the preparations. We are praying about the precise destinations. Our potential destinations:
The leaders gave us a cost of R20000. I already saved R6000 from saving through waitering at a restaurant.

Personally
Personally it is going excellent with me. In week 3 I was extremely emotional and God cleaned a lot of my inner pain. After week 4 I felt peace that I did not feel in a long time. The lectures and the staff have really helped me to see more of the inheritance God has given us through Christ. I have also grown to a greater knowledge of the fact that what we do does not make God love us more or
less. (Which I believed subconsciously but I did not know it). God’s love for us has become a greater reality to me. My worldview has been shaken. Praise God for that!! (I also climbed my first mountain!!)

Prayer Points
• Safety and health of students and staff
• Money for the outreach
• Most of all that we will grow in knowledge of the love of Christ for all of us and all people
