Visiting Ashton Secondary during my DTS outreach

DEAR Friends
Praise God for amazing things He is doing. It is windy, rainy and cold, mixed with lovely winter days here in Worcester. For the first six months we trusted the Lord to teach us Himself whatever He wanted to do. We learnt a lot from base life and the individuals God sent across our path.
New things on our plate
Christien was appointed as the “mother”  for housing on the base. As quite a bit of people stay on the base it is a responsible job to be busy with. She is meeting a lot of people and making new friends, especially people from other nations that is not at the forefront of the base-meetings in general, but very powerful missionaries in a humble way.
It is a new season for Christien to understand all the administrative things on the base. It also includes all the visa requirements and all kinds of day to day challenges people can face. It is very good for us to see the everyday life and challenges and it is a very good preparation for us.
And the family?
My father had a serious heart operation and I had to fly back to Johannesburg to visit him. It went very well although he was in severe discomfort for a while. When I left he could go home and everything was fine although he still has to be quiet for 6 weeks.
The kids are very happy at school and are doing well. It is a great help that we stay in a house where there is enough room for everybody. The kids are playing often at the base and is staying over with friends enjoying themselves.
The next term?
Wikus is starting with the school of Apostolic pioneering (SOAP). This is a leadership course in Ywam about church planting. We get teachers from India, America and other places. It promises to be high class training in the latest trends of mission. This will last till the end of September.
In October I will teach (hopefully with a team) a month seminar on the Theophostic prayer ministry here on the base. We hope that it will make great impact to help people get breakthroughs in their personal relationship with God. We had quite a few counseling that we did in the last few weeks. We will have to see if we will be able to do any counseling while we’re busy with courses.
Gangsters
We hope to equip some teachers at the schools with skills to do counseling with gang related problems. If these young people can have an encounter with Jesus and they can see hope for their future they can change. Please pray for this as we need God’s favor on this plan. We hope to equip some teachers during the October training.
Struggles
We had to put our Combi through the test again. Each year the car has to be retested because it transports people. Before they want to pass the car I have to fix about R6000 on the car. At this stage we fixed half but with the new soap school coming up there is a lot of strain on our finances as we also fell behind with the kids schools. Luckily we only have struggles in this department and we trust God to see us through.
Hospital evangelism
I prayed for about five cancer patients. We wait to see what the end will be but there was a lot of presence from God. As it was mostly in the hospital it is difficult to say what the end result was but my faith for healing increased tremendously.
Plans for Potch
We just received news that a very talented artist are joining us next year at Potch for Ywam. I am so excited about the amount of presence we have in our meetings from God. I am convinced that something very special is going to happen next year. Afcourse there is challenges. Challenges is a part of growth and not always bad, but through it all we are growing in all kinds of ways. We have been changed at the core of our being and we can constantly feel how change takes place.

Please pray with us for…

ü  Wikus’s SOAP course that will be the next 3 months.
ü  Christien’s responsibilities as housing organizer.
ü  For the TPM course/seminar and visiting Johannesburg  (TPM conference during October)
ü  The children who are also being challenged each on a different level.
ü  Clear guidance for our next steps this year.
ü  That the Lord helps us to have the right DNA for spiritual growth.
ü  For Wikus’s dad’s health and recovery.

Blessings and please keep contact , we will be happy to pray with you for your prayer requests…
